SUBJECT: We have jobs in your district, and an idea for the stimulus package!
Our team owns and manages solar energy systems in your district. We work with local providers on our operations, providing good paying jobs. Today, we need your help.
The U.S. solar and battery storage industries employ over 250,000 Americans and provide $19 billion annually in infrastructure investments across the country. Until the crisis, these figures were expected to grow substantially. These industries have created quality blue collar jobs across this country, increasing over 160% over the last decade.
What’s more, nearly 10% of the industry is comprised of Veterans who have come home after a decade of war to continue their service at home. The COVID-19 crisis is threatening these jobs and investments at a time when we need them most.
How Congress Can Save Jobs and Investment in the Domestic Solar Industry?
You can use existing policy mechanisms in the new stimulus package to address these issues and allow solar companies to retain employees through the COVID-19 crisis. Specifically:
- Give taxpayers the option of claiming the existing Investment Tax Credit (ITC) or direct cash payments in lieu of the ITC for all Section 48 and 25D qualified solar energy projects.
- Pass a multi-year extension of the Section 48 and Section 25D solar ITC and postpone the corresponding placed-in-service deadlines.
- Extend deadlines for placing solar systems in service to qualify for the ITC.
Please take action today, it can make a difference in the future of our industry!
