CleanCapital names Zoe Berkery Chief Operating Officer, making executive bench 50% female
Additional new hires and promotions position company to lead the global transition to clean energy
NEW YORK—March 28, 2022—CleanCapital announced today that it has promoted Zoe Berkery to the position of Chief Operating Officer. Berkery was CleanCapital’s first full-time employee shortly after the company launched in 2015 and has since held various positions—including Associate and Vice President—culminating in her role as Head of Asset Management since 2020.
In her new role as COO, she will oversee corporate operations and finances in addition to continuing to manage CleanCapital’s sizable portfolio of solar assets. Berkery and her team are responsible for the management and optimization of CleanCapital’s growing fleet of clean energy projects, comprising more than 150 MW operating in 21 states.
The Asset Management and Operations team seeks out innovative ways to add value to each of CleanCapital’s 170+ projects and ensures that its portfolio of assets under management grows sustainably and efficiently to support the company’s continued success.
Berkery’s promotion also brings CleanCapital’s management team to 50% female, well above the percent of women in the overall renewable energy industry.
“I am so proud of what we’ve built and continue to grow at CleanCapital. There’s so much more work to be done, but I am motivated every day by the people I work with and the daily problem-solving we do in moving the industry forward,” said Zoe Berkery. “I am excited to play a key role in efficiently managing our assets to meet returns and scale. It’s a pivotal part of the maturation of our industry and a constantly evolving and exciting challenge.”
“Since CleanCapital’s founding, Zoe has been critical to our company’s success. She was our first employee and has led our company’s asset management group for much of that time,” said Thomas Byrne, CEO of CleanCapital. “Her promotion to COO reflects her leadership within the company and the industry; she is destined to lead the global transition to clean energy for years to come.”
